Up next: Winner advances to play the winner of Stow and Jackson in a regional semifinal on March 8 at 7 p.m. at Kent State.
For the record: It’s a rematch of the second day of the regular season with a trip to regionals on the line. Brush carries in a boatload of momentum after the biggest upset of the district semifinal round. Behind Marlon Barnes’ 17 points and 10 rebounds, Brush looks to get to regionals for the first time since 1930. The Arcs will need Tyler Williams to have a bigger impact inside against the Walsh bigs as their board control was a problem in their first meeting. But if Brush brings its aggressive style of defense to the final as it did in the semifinal, it will be another physical one down low. The Arcs will also need some bigger contributions from Yahir Hill and Alijah Murray. … Walsh survived a scare against Louisville. Jesse James came up with a steal with less than a second left to advance to the district final. The Warriors are averaging 61 points a game offensively and nine times have eclipsed the 70-point mark. The Walsh defense has been just as stout. The Warriors hold opponents to 48.7 points a game, including under 40 in five of their last six. With how both teams approach defense, this has the potential to be a low scoring one.
Hercik’s pick: Walsh Jesuit
