Germany pledges to support Kenya’s mission to Haiti » Capital News



NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 20 – President William Ruto has stated that Germany has pledged to support Kenya’s mission to Haiti and peace in the Horn of Africa.

Ruto who jetted out of the country on Sunday evening for a 4 day visit to Germany and Belgium held talks with Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz.

“On the sidelines of the “G20 Compact with Africa” conference in Berlin, held talks with Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz who pledged to support Kenya’s mission to Haiti and peace in the Horn of Africa, “Noted Ruto through a post in his official X account.

The head of state said Kenya and Germany share strong historic ties and considerable interests especially in areas of trade, investment, environmental conservation and industrial promotion.

“We will build on these bilateral relations to benefit our people,’’ added Ruto.

President Ruto who strongly defended his foreign trips abroad recently stating that they are purely for the economic benefit of the country, is also expected to meet Belgium Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, later during his trip to the European Country.

Ruto stated that his overseas trips are a necessary part of his delivery as the Head of State for they have so far attracted direct foreign investments set to boost the country’s economy.

On Monday morning Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi also arrived in Berlin, Germany and will be accompanying President William Ruto during his visit in the federal state.

The National Assembly last week approved the proposed deployment of the National Police Forces to the Multi National Security Support Mission to Haiti where 1000 troops will be deployed.
