Ahead of the 2023 Genesis Invitational, the buzz became louder with 47-year-old Tiger Woods’ announcement of his return to the PGA Tour for the event he hosts at Riviera Country Club – just 40 miles from where he grew up and made his first pro start as a amateur in 1992. Woods joins 19 of the top 20 players in the world rankings for the 97th edition of The Genesis Invitational with a loaded and competitive field at the top of the 132 player odds board.

Tiger Woods opens at 120/1 odds to win, or +12000 at FanDuel Sportsbook. He’s 200/1 at the Las Vegas SuperBook. Tiger is also an underdog to make the cut at +166, and he’s -215 to miss the cut (top 65 players and ties). Woods has never won at Riviera, and makes his first start on the PGA Tour since the 2022 Open Championship at St. Andrews.

Player Performance at Riviera

Riviera CC is a par 71 traditional tree-lined course that plays to 7,322 yards. It rewards shot makers and players with well-rounded skill sets from tee-to-green that handle the narrow fairways and tight doglegs, unpredictable Kikuyu rough and trickier, firm and fast Poa greens.

A look at the golf stats past performance charts from site founder Sal Johnson shows that Cameron Young (-17) tied for 2nd in his tournament debut last year and shot a 62 on Friday. Viktor Hovland finished T-4 for his second straight top-5 finish in two starts at Riviera. Rory McIlroy finished T-10 last year and has two other top-5 finishes in the event the previous three years. Scottie Scheffler was T-7 last year for his best finish in four starts at the Genesis, and Justin Thomas finished 6th and also 2nd in 2019. Collin Morikawa finished T-2 last year with a final round 65 to tie Jon Rahm (T-21) for best Round 4 score last year at Riviera. Xander Schauffele has three top-15 finishes the past four years in the event, and Max Homa won the Genesis Invitational in 2021 when play was suspended with severe winds, and he also finished top-10 in both 2020 and 2022.
