Former Pakistan Pacer Shoaib Akhtar has revealed why he rates Virat Kohli as one best batters of the modern era and explained what makes him so special. Akhtar has always praised former Indian skipper Virat Kohli for his prolific batting and his contribution to the Indian team.

Speaking to Suno News, Shoaib Akhtar spoke so highly of Kohli while dropping Tendulkar as he drew a comparison to India’s batting legend and added Virat Kohli came back stronger once he left the captaincy. Kohli, who ended his century drought during the Asia Cup last year, lit up the T20 World Cup with his match-winning knock against arch-rivals Pakistan.

“See, I believe Sachin Tendulkar is the best batsman in the world. But as a captain, he was lost. He left the captaincy himself. I was talking to one of my friends about Virat Kohli and we were discussing the same thing. He was lost and when he works on his mind, he will perform. When his mind became free, he ruled the T20 World Cup,” said Akhtar on Suno News.

Akhtar stressed that Kohli has been a master in the chases for India and scoring close to 40 centuries during chases is not an easy achievement and added that he will always praise Kohli for his achievement and reckoned at one stage  India was able to win just because of Kohli’s centuries.

“You also need to look that almost 40 centuries from Kohli came in run chases. Log kehte hain tum Virat ki bohot tareef karte ho, main kehta hu kaise naa karu? (People tell me that you praise Virat Kohli a lot. I just say, why shouldn’t I do that?) During one stage, India used to win because of Virat’s hundreds,”

Virat Kohli is currently playing Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 and he couldn’t make an impact with bat for India against Australia.

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik praised his RCB teammate Virat Kohli for his consistency over the game for a long period. Speaking to the RCB podcast, Karthik hailed Virat Kohli for whatever he achieved as a person and said that his consistency to perform very well at the highest level is not something many players achieved over a long period in International cricket and his dominance in world cricket is unmatched.

Karthik continued that playing three formats is difficult for any player and averaging above 50 in three formats is something he can be proud and said that he can speak about Kohli a lot and he is always chill and help the youngsters to improve their game. Both Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik will be seen playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2023.
