I mentioned right at the start of this feed that these two clubs don’t especially like each other. Two local rivals (it’s about a 45-minute drive from Liverpool to Manchester) who just happen to be England’s two most successful clubs. It couldn’t be any other way.
Yet Reds boss Jürgen Klopp was being pretty nice about Sunday’s opponents – and striker Marcus Rashford in particular – in the run-up to the game.
“It’s impossible to be happy about something positive at Manchester Utd when you are Liverpool manager but I am really happy for Rashford.
“He had a very difficult last year when he was not performing at the level he can and I knew this would change, although sometimes you don’t have the time to change but he has changed it.
“He is playing incredibly. His technique, speed, a mix of everything. How calm he is in front of goal – he scores worldies, simple ones, headers.”
The German even praised counterpart Ten Hag for turning United into a “results machine”. He must be going soft in his old age.
Here’s everything Klopp had to say about Rashford, Ten Hag and the Red Devils on Friday.
