MSU men’s basketball earns No. 4 seed, double-bye in Big Ten Tournament – The State News

Michigan State has been named the No. 4 seed in the Big Ten Tournament, earning a double-bye.

MSU’s regular season ended on a high note after an 84-78 victory over Ohio State on Saturday, allowing the Spartans to sit back on Sunday and watch the rest of the conference battle for Big Ten Tournament seeding.

Nebraska took down Iowa Sunday afternoon, allowing MSU to secure its double-bye and pushing the Spartans first game back to Friday.

However, the fate of MSU’s seeding depended on the results of Sunday night’s contest between Northwestern and Rutgers. The Wildcats ultimately knocked off the Scarlet Knights, locking the Spartans in as the No. 4 seed and fourth overall in conference standings.

Ohio State and Wisconsin will face off on Wednesday evening, and the winner of the matchup will take on Iowa on Thursday afternoon. The team that emerges victorious on Thursday will then advance to play MSU on Friday at approximately 2:30 p.m. ET, 25 minutes after the conclusion of the first quarterfinals game between Purdue and the victor of the contest between Rutgers and Michigan.

In the 2022 Big Ten Tournament, the Spartans fell to Purdue 75-70 in the final minutes of the semifinals.

All games on Friday will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
