Tottenham ‘admire’ 43-y/o Premier League coach as potential Conte replacement
Tottenham could reportedly consider a move to appoint Steve Cooper as Antonio Conte’s replacement this summer, with the Nottingham Forest manager having admirers at Spurs.
According to the Daily Mail, the north London side ‘admire’ the work the former Swansea City boss has done with Forest over the last two seasons, with Cooper taking the City Ground club from the pits of the Championship to a somewhat stable Premier League team.
Despite managing just 25 Premier League games in his entire career, Cooper is regarded as one of the best managers in England, with his coaching style and approach to youth something that could appeal massively to Tottenham, who look set to appoint a successor to Conte this summer.
The Italian manager’s contract is due to expire at the end of this season, and every indicator so far suggests that Conte will leave Tottenham after just 18 months at the club having failed to end the club’s trophy drought, with a UEFA Champions League miracle unlikely this season.
As a result, Tottenham are starting the search now for a new manager, a Cooper could be a popular appointment if Daniel Levy and his board are able to convince the Forest coach to leave his position and join one of the Premier League big-guns at the other end of the table.
Indeed, Cooper’s CV is an impressive one having guided Forest to Premier League promotion and relative safety as well as winning the FIFA U-17 World Cup with England. And for Tottenham, the Welshman could be the perfect fit to replace Conte this summer.

Conte’s departure from Tottenham seems written in the stars at this point, with the Spurs boss spending more time in Italy this year than in north London due to health reasons. And for the club themselves, appointing Cooper as a successor would be some exceptional business.
Whilst there is a fear that Cooper could fall into a trap that Graham Potter currently finds himself in at Chelsea, the Forest manager has successfully made the jump at each new stage he has reached in his career, and joining Tottenham could be a big yet reasonable next step for the 43-year-old coach.
